give_sm.gif Salem High School Art students create hand painted quilts in conjunction with the Saint John's Church Quilters.

Ms. Irvine's art students began making the hand painted squares for quilts in 2005.  Each year themes are selected and the students create a square to be sewn into a quilt by the ladies of Saint John's in Salem.

Upon completion the students have an opportunity to visit Ronald McDonald House to deliver their work of of kindness.

In a letter sent to SHS art teacher Elizabeth Irvine, January 8, 2010:

"On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey and all the families who have been touched by your generosity, I would like to thank you for your 2 quilts hand painted by your students in conjunction with the St. John's Church Quilters.  The Aliens and Nemo were both very popular themes.  We appreciate your sharing your quilting talents and providing comfort and care for our families during their stay at the Ronald House....Again, thank you for helping us help the kids.  Sincerely, Ann D. Thomas, Executive Director"
