SALEM -- To educate kindergarten and 1st grade students, as well as the school community, about the importance of good oral health practices, the John Fenwick Academy took part Tuesday in the New Jersey Department of Health Children's Oral Health Program "Project BRUSH" event.

"Project BRUSH" included an educational presentation led by a registered dental hygienist Lea D'Angelo, who emphasized the importance of brushing, flossing, regular dental visits, and healthy food choices.

Students were also selected to participate in the "Ask a Hygienist" activity, where they had their own individual oral health questions answered.

The John Fenwick Academy will also participate in "Project BRUSH" activities of displaying an oral health poster within the school building, making scripted oral health announcements, and providing participating teachers with oral health educational activities for their classroom.

In addition, all participating students received an oral health care kit, which includes a toothbrush, 2-minute toothbrushing timer and an oral health sticker.
