Anyone attending prom with an outside guest must have their outside guest form in by Friday (April 25th) to Mrs. Derham. Failure to turn your form in will result in your prom guest not attending.  See Mrs. Derham in A-1 with any questions or concerns.

The Salem County Commission on Women is offering a single $1,000 Nancy W. Timberman Award.  The applicant must be a female residing in Salem County who will be attending an institution of higher learning.  The award is based on need and academic standing.  Please see Mrs. Gatson for more information and an application with guidelines.

The Memorial Hospital of Salem County is having a poster contest to raise awareness for signs and symptoms of a stroke.  The winning design receives a $50.00 Regal Movie Gift Card and certificate.  The deadline for turning in designs is May 8th.  Art students may receive an opportunity for extra credit points too.  See information posted outside the Art Room for rules.

Recruiting for Fall Sports is going on now.  Applications are available from the coaches or the Athletic Department.  Application deadline is FRIDAY, May 16th. Applications received after the deadline will not be scheduled for pre-summer physicals.

The Gallery Collection is offering a $10,000 scholarship to the winner of its 8thAnnual Create-A-Greeting Card Contest.  Visit their web site www.GalleryCollection.com for more information and contest details.
 
Are you interested in a career in nursing?  The Salem County Nurses Association is offering a $500 scholarship to a Salem County high school graduating senior planning to pursue an education in the field of nursing.  See Mrs. Gatson in the Guidance Office for an application.  The submission deadline is April 30, 2014.

Rowan University will host an engineering workshop for all current high school students interested in the field of engineering.  The camp will be held from July 8 through July 10.  There is a fee of $250.00.  See your guidance counselor if you are interested or call 856-256-5300.

Looking for a career in law and need financial help?  The Console/Hollawell Legal Leaders Scholarship is now available to graduating seniors pursuing a degree in a law related field.  This $1000 scholarship will be awarded to the recipient’s chosen school in August 2014.  The application and essay deadline is July 15, 2014.  Visit www.consoleandhollawell.com for more information about the application requirements.

Displayed on the bulletin board by the main entrance is “hashtag thanks.” This is an opportunity for students and teachers to thank someone for what they have done. Each homeroom teacher will be given a set of cards to give to each student. Both students and teachers can fill out the cards and place them in the #Thanks box in cafeteria during lunch. Approved cards will be displayed on the bulletin board. Anyone who needs more cards should notify their homeroom teacher. 

Seniors:  many scholarship opportunities are available to you.  Please stop by the Guidance Office for applications for the following graduation awards:  Salem County Retired Educators Association and Up Rising Stars ($750).  These applications are due in April.

A reminder to student drivers:  you must be registered with the school in order to park on school property.  Please see Cpl. Sieber with your current driver’s license, registration and proof of insurance.  You will also need to pay the $5.00 fee.

School Based Youth Services is hosting The Get UP and Move Program after school at 2:45 pm, as follows:

  • Wednesday - Yoga in C38
  • Thursday - Zumba in C38

Students please be advised that no one will be allowed access to the gym lockers during the day, unless of course it is your assigned gym period.

Anyone notified that they must serve Office Detention with Mr. Boone must do so or you will be assigned Internal Suspension.  Report to room A-56 immediately after school when assigned.  See Mr. Boone if you have any questions.

All young men are reminded that when you turn eighteen you must register for Selective Service within 30 days of your birthday.  Not registering is a felony.  You will be fined $250,000 and you may also have to serve up to 5 years in prison.  You will also lose certain benefits such as student financial aid, government employment, and US citizenship for male immigrants.  Registration forms are available in the Main Office and at your local post office or you can register online at www.sss.gov.
