The Forman Acton Foundation Proudly Announces 2023 Class of Forman Scholars

The Foundation’s incoming Scholars studying at Salem High School

The Forman Acton Foundation is proud to formally introduce its 2023 Class of Forman Scholars. Following a comprehensive application and interview process, 12 exceptional students in their senior year of high school have been selected by the Foundation’s Scholarship Committee to join the organization’s cornerstone program. This cohort of students joins an impressive group of 42 active Scholars and 29 alumni Scholars.

This year marks two momentous milestones in the history of the Forman Scholars Program. First, the Foundation has elected to increase the scholarship provided to each Scholar from $40,000 to $50,000, and this year’s cohort will be the first to receive the full amount of this expanded award. As before, these funds are to be applied to the payment of Scholars’ college expenses, either at the undergraduate or graduate level.

Secondly, the Foundation is thrilled to welcome its first Scholar studying at the Salem County Vocational and Technical School. Najasi Esposito, a resident of Salem City, joins the eleven other incoming Scholars currently studying at Salem High School.

Those students include:

  • Holton Frank

  • Alex Gomez

  • Zoe Eldridge

  • Evan Biddle

  • Myles Rodgers

  • Hannah Sharp

  • Jayara Wright

  • Fashia Comerford

  • Isabella Dennis

  • Aryana Furbush-Brewer

  • Amare Smith

To be eligible for the Forman Scholars Program, students must be in their senior year of high school, be residents of Salem City or attend school in Salem City, and be enrolled in the Foundation’s Acorn Fund. The Foundation takes into account a variety of academic, financial and demographic considerations aligned with the policies of the program and the organization’s Certificate of Incorporation.

Forman Scholars are not only provided a financial award to put toward their college expenses but they also are exposed to mentorship and networking opportunities that encourage them to connect with the Foundation’s staff members and fellow Scholars.

The newest Scholars and the Foundation’s staff recently met to discuss their selection and hear from each student about the current state of their college search process. In the coming months, learn more about each Scholar, their achievements and their collegiate aspirations in individual profiles that will be published on the Foundation’s website.
