Dear Ram Fam,
This spring, students in Salem City School District will participate in New Jerseyβs statewide assessments. These assessments are one way we understand how students are growing and how we can continue to strengthen teaching and learning across our district.
Depending on grade level, students will take:
New Jersey Student Learning Assessments β Adaptive (NJSLA-A)
New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment β Adaptive (NJGPA-A)
New Jersey Student Learning Assessments β Science (NJSLA-S)
These assessments are aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards and measure the skills students are expected to learn at each grade level.
π State Testing Windows
NJGPA-A: March 16 β April 1, 2026
NJSLA-A (ELA & Math): April 27 β May 29, 2026
NJSLA-Science: April 27 β May 29, 2026
π Each school will share its specific testing schedule with families.
What this means for your child
The ELA and Math assessments are computer-adaptive, adjusting to student responses
Each student may see different questions, but all measure grade-level standards
The goal is to more accurately understand what students know and can do
Why this matters
These assessments help us:
Understand student growth
Strengthen instruction
Ensure all students have access to high-quality learning
How families can support
We ask for your partnership in ensuring students:
Get a good nightβs rest
Arrive at school on time
Come ready to do their best
If you have any questions, please contact your childβs school.
Thank you for your continued partnership.
With appreciation,
Office of Teaching, Learning, and Innovation
