Last week, our amazing Salem Middle School and Salem High School students attended the Dare to Dream Conference!
🚀 This wonderful event was all about empowering students, celebrating their voices, and teaching valuable skills in self-advocacy and leadership.
We were incredibly proud to share that Salem High School's very own Annalie F., an 11th grader, served as a keynote speaker for the conference! 🎤✨ Annalie did an absolutely phenomenal job inspiring peers from all over the region with her powerful words and leadership.
Our students wrapped up the day feeling motivated, confident, and ready to advocate for their futures and achieve their biggest dreams. You all represented Salem with such pride and excellence, superstars! 👏💙

🎉🏫 GREAT NEWS FOR SALEM HIGH SCHOOL! We are so excited to announce that Salem High School has been selected for the 2026-2027 Community-Based Instruction (CBI) Project Cohort! 🌟
This program is a special partnership between the New Jersey Department of Education and Rutgers University. It helps schools take learning out of the classroom and into the local community. Through hands-on, real-world experiences, our students with disabilities will practice important everyday life and job skills to help them become more independent and successful as they grow into adulthood.
Our teachers will receive expert training and support this coming school year to build an amazing, sustainable program right here in our town.
We were so proud to receive this acceptance and can't wait to see our students thrive out in the community! 💼🌎

Back in October, our very own Bobbie A. Shuman was honored at the annual NJSBA Workshop in Atlantic City with the prestigious "Unsung Superheroes in Education Award." 🏆

For 41 years, Ms. Shuman has been a vital part of the Salem City School District family. As our Child Study Team Secretary and Transportation Coordinator, she works tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure our special education students, families, and staff have everything they need.

✈️ Our SHS IB juniors, Erica and Gavin, recently returned from an incredible CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) trip to Prague, chaperoned by Mr. Buck! They immersed themselves in global service and culture—supporting local homeless initiatives, exploring sustainability at an organic farm, and studying the history behind Prague’s street art.
🌍They also collaborated with international peers and gained firsthand insights into the Cold War, which will directly fuel their upcoming IB History Internal Assessments. By showing deep curiosity and empathy throughout the trip, Erica and Gavin truly embodied the IB learner profile. Big thanks to Mr. Buck for guiding them on this unforgettable journey! 🌟

🎈 JFA’s Annual Spring Fling was a blast! Families had a wonderful day filled with laughter and community. Kids stayed busy on the inflatable bounce house and slide, played carnival games for prizes, and got creative with amazing face painting by Mrs. Traini and Ms. Deans! 🎨✨
The snacks were a hit with fresh popcorn, snow cones, hot dogs and chips for everyone to enjoy. Plus, parents were able to stop by our information tables to connect with the L.I.F.T. literacy team, Rowan University and learn about lead poisoning prevention. 📚🌭

🐷 Our students had a blast with a STAR cooking activity creating these adorable piglet faces! They practiced their fine motor skills by spreading cream cheese on English muffins and carefully adding strawberry ears with raisin eyes and noses. It’s safe to say these snacks were just as fun to make as they were to eat! 😋🥯
